From acorns to wild violets, the Texas landscape is filled with an abundance of wild edibles. Come learn where to find, how to identify, and proper preparation of the fruits, shoots, roots and salad greens growing all around you. Topics will include: hands-on plant identification, responsible harvesting techniques, preparation, poisonous plant mimics and edible landscaping. Bring comfortable walking shoes, water, sack lunch and bug repellant. A pen/pencil and camera are also recommended. A plant guide sheet will be supplied. The instructor for this course is Mark Vorderbruggen, a research chemist and one of the Houston area’s most intrepid explorers. Cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members.
